Auto Scheduling Staff

If the Scheduling Method of a shift is set to "Auto Schedule," you can use Auto Schedule to automatically assign staff to the slots of the shifts.

The auto-scheduler uses a complex algorithm to generate the best schedule it can find based on the following factors:

  • Staff are marked "Active."
  • Staff are not marked "Do Not Auto Schedule."
  • Staff aren't schedule to work overlapping shifts or in more than one scheduling location at the same time.

  • Clients aren't receiving service from staff they have excluded.
  • Staff are approved to work at the scheduling location.
  • No empty slots.
  • Staff has required scheduling location and client qualifications.
  • Staff aren't scheduled when unavailable.
  • Staff hours don't go over company absolute maximum.
  • Cost is at its lowest.
  • Staff are at manager or staff preferred location.
  • Staff hours are not below staff minimum, company preferred minimum or company absolute minimum.
  • Staff hours are not above staff maximum or company preferred maximum.
  • Staff do not have gaps in their schedules or have gaps greater than the drive time from one scheduling location to another.
  • Staff are scheduled when preferred (as opposed to available).

Note: It may take a few minutes for the Auto Schedule process to complete. You will need to click off the auto scheduled week and come back to view the changes.
